Doing versus Being

Inner work is the most powerful work you can do.

This is something I really struggled with in the past.

That is, the idea that somehow using my inner resources of mind and spirit was equal to doing ‘real’ work.

I use to believe that because we are living in a ‘real world’ I must always be doing, doing, doing. It is the treadmill syndrome, where we are so busy doing that we have no time for being.

In fact I had it so bad that unless I was actively ‘doing’ something on the outside, I was wracked with guilt. Inner work, mind work, Spiritual work on myself seemed to me like a cop out a waste of valuable time. Like I was somehow avoiding doing ‘real’ work and that I would not be productive from spending time on my inner side.

It is quite strange really when you consider that we are called Human Beings not Human Doings.

It is true that in all aspect of life balance is the key, we are here in the physical to do and experience. Yet we forget that we initially planned to come here and use or innate inner manifesting abilities to create the stuff that we would then enjoy experiencing.

And unfortunately the majority of the planet now set about doing, to create so they can do more doing when they have created and in this pattern end up just doing constantly.

What is now abundantly clear to me is that the inner work is just as important as the outer and at times even more important because, for many, they have been so out of balance for so long.

If this guilt / misguided doing real work ethic sounds familiar to you and you recognise the ‘treadmill’ in your life. Then do yourself a huge favour and slow it down or step off it for a while before the universe steps in and encourages / forces you to do it ( as it did with me eight years ago) often by use of huge life upheavals and chaos.

Some times the universe rattles our lives to shake us out of our unbalanced state of doing and sometimes it turns them up side down if needed to achieve the goal.

Fortunately we are in a time of great awareness and you can choose to restore this doing – being balance and re-connect with the powerful co-creative aspects of your inner self.

As always if you need any help or guidance on this you know where to find me.

Warmest wishes,

Mark
